Valentina Zelyaeva Hosts "Shop For A Cause" at Use Your Head - Tonight 7-9pm

Tonight, from 7-9pm, Valentina Zelyaeva is hosting "Shop For A Cause", at Use Your Head Boutique. Sales of used designer clothing & accessories benefit ACE New York

From Use Your Head:

Use Your Head-shop for a cause is a boutique tucked away on Mott Street in Manhattan’s stylish NoLita neighborhood. Featuring a dynamic mix of vintage and contemporary designer clothing, shoes, accessories, and handbags, the store is designed to offer hip, fashion-conscious shoppers something fresh in a challenging retail environment. We are highly selective about the merchandise we offer, selling only new or gently used high-end items from recognized New York designers like Marc Jacobs, Nicole Miller, and Rachel Roy, in addition to labels that will appeal to vintage clothing aficionados. Select pieces are available for individuals to rent, be it for events or costuming.

Use Your Head is more than a traditional boutique: One hundred percent of our profits go to support ACE Programs for the Homeless. ACE has been serving the New York community for nearly two decades by providing job training, work experience, and a lifetime support network to homeless men and women while they keep our streets clean. If you come to the Nolita/SoHo shopping district, you’ll be sure to spot the ACE workers in their bright-red uniforms.

"How to make a juice" - Valentina Zelyaeva for Organice Your Life

Written by Valentina Zelyaeva for OrganiceYourLife.com: Since I’m very much into juicing, many people are approaching me and asking me to share my favorite juice recipes. I’m always happy to give one or two great recipes! People usually write it down, or check my blog for a recipes. But when it comes to make the juice at home using different ingredients, people get lost and the juice doesn’t come out very appealing to the taste buds, or becomes a total disaster! So they get discouraged and stop juicing all at once. But, wait a minute! Before you put away your brand new juicer and forget about it for good, I want to share with you my secret: how to make a juice! There are few rules. Follow them and you will fall in love with your juicer and your juice! Haha! Figuratively speaking (hope you didn’t brake your tongue reading this sentence!)

  1. Base of the juice. Pick one of the following fruits or veggies: large cucumber; couple of oranges; pineapple; green apples; watermelon; grapefruit. As you can see those fruits contain lots of fluid, which will give you a base or a volume to a juice.

  2. Leafy greens or Fresh Herbs. Pick one of the following: kale; spinach; cilantro; dill; mint; parsley; dandelion; celery. Those will provide you with the minerals that your body is craving for. And they will give a gorgeous green color to a juice (Just like an “Organice Your Life” green apple logo;) )

  3. Extra flavor. This is the last but very important tip! This ‘extra’ something will give a twist to your creation. Pick one of your favorite: ginger; lemon; lime; fennel; tangerine; carrot; beetroot.
Those are the basic rules to make a great tasting and healthy juice. Good luck! Check out my juice recipes immunity booster, wild cucumber and Asian pear

Lonneke and Valentina think back about the shoot and share their experiences:

Valentina: Ok, so let me tell you something about the shoot. The morning of the shoot was one of the coldest days in November, but we all stayed warm and cozy thanks to Lonneke. She was kind enough to let us into her cute loft to shoot the cover and videos. She prepared wonderful lunch for the crew: yummy veggie soup, organic
bread from the farmers market, local cheese and organic salad with avocado and olive oil-sesame seed-lemon dressing.

Lonneke: Thanks Val!

V: Yes, it was so good that I got inspired and the next day I copied you by making the same lunch for myself :)

L: Love to hear that, I enjoy making (hopefully) delicious foods for friends and crew!

V: I thought it was great working with Alique. She took beautiful pictures of us, and I’m hoping to work and hang out with her more in the future.

L: Yes, that’s why I am happy that Alique creates all the covers for Organice Your Life® together with Art Director Joep Becx. Alique is talented and a very successful
photographer from Holland, together we want to conquer the world! Tijl did the really cool video of us in Holiday Style. Everybody seemed to have fun at the shoot!

V: Anne-Marie and I met last year at the Pura Vida party and we have the same passion for Raw Food, so it was great talking with her about it. Her love for dolphins and sea life is something to look up to.

L: Yes that’s amazing! Anne-Marie and I have been friends for a while and we both love to discuss good foods, healthy living and other interesting things in life. I am happy the three of us could manage to do the shoot together for this cover.

V: So with this issue: What do you wish for yourself and the OYL readers for 2011?

L: Well, I wish of course the usual: Happiness, Love and Peace for me and my loved ones, but I also hope that people get inspired to do good, for themselves, for friends, family and others. An inspired world is a joy forever! And what about you?

V: The whole world celebrates New Year! That means a fresh start foreveryone, new ideas, new plans, people looking forward to a new year, and we can make goals what we want to achieve in the year to come! I feel lots of good vibes around me and I think no matter where you are and what you do, the most important thing is to meet the New
Year with positive energy and a happy attitude, and that’s what I will try to do!

L & V: From both of us, we wish everyone a very joyous end of 2010 and an amazing New Year!
